76 yo mother uses an Android phone because of her familiarity with Google. Imagine her dismay that she is unable to text her three primary carers (family members) because they use iPhones!

And yet text message is a service she or whomever takes care of her financial pays a monthly bill to her cellular data provider If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
