Screen glitch on MacBook Pro

I know that when graphics cards start showing artifacts it could mean serious problems with the GPU. Do I need to worry or is it just a software glitch?

a display artifact would show a vertical stripe from top to bottom of the entire display, including taking a bite out of the menubar. That is NOT a display artifact, it has a closed rectangle drawn around it.

What you posted appears to be an input cursor. Something you installed is asking you to type there.

The only text on your screen-shot is the word Help. Is that a Help window?

What happens when you type search terms and press return?
