Apple Adopt 5 apps on new computer will not complete assignment to my account

I bought a new MacBook M3 Pro 14

The App Store indicated updates available and that I have 5 Apps (Numbers, Keynote, Pages, iMovie, & Garage Band) that I need to adopt so they can be assigned to my account and this new MacBook.

I went through the sign-on to my account and clicked ACCEPT.

The message came back that these apps could not be assigned to my account

Please advise on a solution.
