Disable notifications while in a call

Is there any way to set turn off all notifications while in a call?

I think it must be somewhere, I cannot imagine a “feature” that was default on all mobile phones 20years ago, is not available on smartphone.

Its not only extremely annoying to have alarm ring on your ear, whatsapp…and others…The phone is so smart that recognise my face, but so poor when it comes to basic things…

iPhone 12 mini, iOS 15

As far as I know, iOS does not have a built-in feature that automatically disables all notifications specifically when you are on a call. However, there are some workarounds that you can use to minimize or silence notifications during phone calls on your iPhone:

1. Use Do Not Disturb Mode:

- Before starting a call, you can manually enable Do Not Disturb mode. This will silence calls, alerts, and notifications while your device is locked.

- To activate, go to Settings > Do Not Disturb, or open Control Center and tap the crescent moon icon.

- You can allow calls from certain contacts to bypass Do Not Disturb by adjusting the settings in Settings > Do Not Disturb.

2. Scheduled Do Not Disturb:

- If you have regular times when you make or receive calls, you can schedule Do Not Disturb to automatically turn on during these periods.

- Go to Settings > Do Not Disturb, and then set a schedule.

3. Silent Mode:

- You can also use the physical Silent switch on the side of your iPhone to mute notifications. However, this won’t stop notifications from lighting up the screen.

4. Customize Notification Settings:

- For apps that frequently interrupt your calls, you can customize their notification settings to reduce interruptions. For instance, you can set the notification style to banners (which appear and disappear automatically) or disable sounds.

- Adjust these settings in Settings > Notifications, then select the app you want to adjust.

5. Focus Modes:

- If you have iOS 15 or later, you can use Focus modes to control how notifications behave. For instance, you can create a custom Focus mode for when you're on a call and allow notifications only from certain apps or people.

- Set up Focus modes in Settings > Focus.

6. Turn Off Cellular Data or Wi-Fi:

- If you're on a traditional voice call (not a VoIP call like WhatsApp or FaceTime), turning off cellular data or Wi-Fi can prevent data-dependent notifications, like emails or social media updates, from coming through.

7. Use Headphones:

- Using headphones during calls can at least prevent loud notification sounds from being a direct disturbance.

Unfortunately, the lack of an automatic feature to disable notifications during calls is a limitation in the current design of iOS. For more nuanced control, you might need to rely on the manual methods described above.
