Need password for deceased persons macbook lockscreen

I am the administrator of someones account, and have access to their apple id and password, but I need the password to get past the lockscreen on their macbook. Any help on how to do this, or who to contact to request it. I have the death certificate and the letter stating I am the administrator of the estate.

I ultimately want to reset the macbook so it can be passed on for someone else to use.

Thanks, I have access to their account. I need to get past the Lock Screen on the laptop, I don’t see how to do that in the article.

You can try this support article to reset the login password. Depending on the Mac and OS version, it may be possible to reset with the Apple ID Password.
