How do I delete files from iPhone but not icloud

I’ve seen older answers which I hope are not still correct - I have opened (therefore downloaded) some files from iCloud on my iPhone but would like to delete them from my iPhone to free up storage. Is there finally a way to do this without deleting them from iCloud itself? Super basic functionality I hope exists finally
