Muting AMBER Alert (Canada)

I am unable to disable AMBER alerts since I live in Canada. That being said, will keeping my IPhone on Silent Mode ensure that the AMBER alert does not produce a sound? I am fine if it vibrates, I just can't have the sound going off. Thank you!

It does not address the problem, which is that if your phone is in silent mode, the alarm does not sound until you turn off the amber alert. I realize that I can turn off amber alerts, but I shouldn't have to in order to maintain normal alarm functionality. Please fix this or tell me how to avoid the problem in the future without turning off amber alerts. This strikes me as a bug. Alarms have to be totally dependable if they are going to be useful. Apparently this has been a problem for years & has not been addressed as a problem in the iOS.

Amber alerts still sounding even though I have them turned off. I have had this iPhone 14 pro max for two years and just had it sound an Amber alert for the first time tonight. I have always had them turned off. My husband has an iPhone 14 pro and it also had the amber alert happen this evening. Both phones are have current software updates. Does anyone have an idea why this happened?

I heard loud tornado warp Later this evening, they were loud sirens going off in the neighborhood, telling us to take cover from a tornado. My phone, however, did not make any noise did not alert me in any way how do I change this in the settings so that I get a notice?

No, government alerts cannot be silenced.

I see, so even on Silent Mode, the AMBER alert will produce a sound? Is there any way that I can decrease the sound of the alert itself?

If I had headphones connected, will the sound only play through the headphones and not the speaker?
