Missing profile after transfer to Mac Studio

Using Time Machine, I have just migrated from my iMac to a new Mac Studio. My iMac had 2 user profiles - mine and my husband’s - and when the new Mac Studio was loading, I saw both profiles and documents etc being loaded from Time Machine to the Studio. When the set up was completed, the Studio rebooted, but only one profile was available to log on, When I did log on, my old desktop appeared; I went to system settings and both profiles were showing in users. Any idea what I have done wrong…or am I missing something obvious? On my iMac, both of our profiles were available as drop downs (top right hand corner) and either one or both of us could be logged in at the same time.

The term 'Profiles" is used for something different entirely. What you are talking about on the Mac is User Accounts. User account DATA is stored on disk at

where all accounts WOULD have been listed had you used Migration Assistant instead of Time Machine. Instead, it appears only the files may have been copied, and not the User Accounts.

An account easily can be created to match the files copied across.
