You are absolutely right. But my question is -
When I connect my iOS device to Vehicle infotainment system, my intentions are pretty clear
- I am the one who owns the Device and Wishes to use the CARPLAY features for my driving
- Being the owner I should have the flexibility to Instruct CAR PLAY to Use iOS GPS or Vehicle's Antenna. In fact I must have the Say.
- The proposed solution is to have a GPS Toggle button (Always Use iOS GPS) for CARPLAY feature.
- Default can be OFF to make it the way it is working now. Let the customer face the issue and throw their iPhone in anger. Backward compatibility.
- If the user faces some issue then to make their driving esp navigation experience good, they can easily SWITCH to use iOS GPS.
THIS IS AN SECURITY Issue. Think I am driving to an unknown location and completely relying on Maps. But certainly MAPs shows me wrong location. Just think. This is not an imaginary Use case.
Apple CarPlay GPS wrong location issue - Apple Community
Customer is paying a premium for owning an iOS device. How do you justify this life-threatening issue ?
iOS device owners must have this flexibility to choose GPS antenna for their CARPLAY.
It is very well possible and an easy fix.
If a customer wants the DEFFAULT mode, then NO NEED TO TURN ON THE TOGGLE.
I Think I am making sense here and needs to be heard clear and loud.
Thanks,
