iTunes doesnt play external downloads

Since a few days iTunes on my MacBook Pro doesnot play the music downloads that i have imported from CD’s, external download platforms, etc. The songs are visable in the library, but when i click on it, iTunes jumps to the first in itunes downloaded song in the list. I’m not happy with this, because these external downloads contain a lot of good music from before there was iTunes. I like to play it. Can someone tell me how to solve this problem? Thank you.
