ipad air,gen4 stopped detecting the sim card

The sim card works in my iphone. But the ipad does not even say ”no sim card” when I take it out, and does not ask for pin code when I insert the card. It simply does not react.

It worked before.

I have changed the sim card to a new one, but it does not fix it.

I have naturally also turned the pad off and all that stuff.

otherwise the pad eorks normally, but it totally ignores that it has a sim card.

If you already tried (to no avail) to contact your cellular carrier explaining your problem, and performed all the steps provided in these two support articles:--> If you see 'invalid SIM' or 'no SIM' on your iPhone or iPad and/or:--> If you see No Service, Searching, or SOS on your iPhone or iPad , it could be a SIM card tray/holder issue, or other internal component failure.

I recommend that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

The majority of mobile phone SIMs are not correctly provisioned for use with tablet computers. If they work at all, they may not provide access to the full range of cellular services. This is not a limitation of the iPad, but of the Cellular network provider.

If using a physical SIM with iPad, you will require a DataSIM explicitly provisioned for iPad or mobile broadband (a.k.a. MiFi).

Be aware that an iPad, whether a Cellular model or not, is not capable of directly accessing Cellular Voice or SMS/MMS Messaging features. An iPad with either WiFi or Cellular connectivity alone can only access IP-data services. If you have added a DataSIM and Cellular plan to a WiFi+Cellular model of iPad, the number associated with the SIM card is only used to identify your account for billing purposes. This number is not used for making calls or sending messages.

Hi.

Thank hou for responding, but it wasn’t one bit helpful.

My ipad air 4th gen has worked very well from the start. There has been no issues what so ever with the sim car provided by the service provider. Snd yes- I do know that it only does work for data transfer and not like a cellular phone. All that is fine. But ghen one day I noticed that the vellular connection is gone. It doesn’t show a sim card, and doesn’t ask for a pin code. So I went and renewed the sim card to be sure. But the problem is in the pad. It has automatic update on for the iOs, and seems to have updated itself to a version that no longer works with the sim cards it used to feel fine about. What can I do? It must be fixable since it has been f…d up by bad programming. But what to do?

I really need that mobile internet. It is the reason for using the tablet.
