ios hotspot assigns ipv6 dns

Very weird behavior when I connect my MBP to my iPhone via hotspot. The iPhone is only assigning an ipv6 DNS entry, which wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for the fact that no ipv4 dns host are resolving. If I go into my wifi and set a manual ipv4 dns entry it starts to work.

iPhone hotspot connecting with Macbook Pro M3 but getting "no internet" Whenever I connect my new MacBook Pro M3 to my iPhone hotspot I can see that the phone is connected but I get "no internet" when trying to visit any website. I can connect my Windows laptop to the hotspot and it works just fine. I can connect my iPad Pro to the same hotspot and it works there as well. (Obviously not simultaneously.) Just not with my MacBook Pro. This tells me it's not a hotspot problem, it's a MacBook problem. Both phone and MacBook are updated to the latest system software. The steps listed for support apply to the hotspot not connecting at all, but my hotspot does indeed connect. It just can't seem to get an IP address that works.

MacBook is only device that connects but has no internet when using my iphone hot spot MacBook Pro on Sonoma 14.3 was connecting and accessing the internet when connected to an iPhone13 hot spot. After the Iphone update, the MacBook connects but has no internet access. The MacBook connects fine to other WIFIs as well as another iPhone hot spot. The other interesting thing is that other devices connect fine when using the iPhone13 hotspot that is not working on my MacBook. I have tried everything: rebooting devices, updating MacBook, renaming iphone13, forgetting network, etc. Nothing makes it work. What can it be?

This seems to be an issue with iOS in that it assigns tethered devices an ipv4 dhcp address, but an ipv6 dns address.
