Mac Studio problem with double click to set up Touch-ID persists

Setting up Touch-ID on my Mac Studio I get through to the pop-up asking me to double click the on/off button on the Mac Studio. I have done this many times, and have also disconnected/reconnected the Magic Keyboard as suggested in an earlier response to a similar question, all to no avail. This is clearly a frequently encountered problem, and I note someone else said he had to do it 140 times before success!

Has there been any development on this issue, or am I missing something?

Try double-clicking really fast

Just an update: I continued to sporadically try the double-click, and suddenly it worked. I have no idea why this was so, as I certainly made no identifiable change from my previous efforts, and I was looking out for this.

Really, Steve Jobs must be spinning in his grave because unlike most things at Apple, this certainly did not "just work", and it appears to have been a problem for many people for some time. Let's hope I don't need to repeat the exercise in the near future...
