Ebooks with my notes deleted

Hello, I had at least 30 pdfs downloaded and opened in Ebooks. For academic reasons I had edited them by highlights and hand notes. All of a sudden, after IPad run out of battery and I could charge it, everything is gone

Markups on pdf in iCloud disappear I use my iPad (2019 12.9” pro) to annotate PDFs. The documents are all in iCloud and I open/annotate them in Files. Multiple times I have been pages into annotating a document and all my notes suddenly disappear and I am unable to reverse the action or get them back. This is infuriating as it has deleted hours worth of work. How to I stop this from happening or get my edits back when it has happened?

why did it delete my notes? i was going to write something else in my notes one day and i come to see that every note i have had was deleted just like most of my photos was deleted out of nowhere
