Express Replacement in-store?

So I’m in a bit of a pickle. After cracking my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I tried to do the Express Replacement with my AppleCare+ on the device but apparently it’s not available in my area which was surprising to me as I live in a big city. I was offered the Reservation option to have it fixed at the nearest Apple Store but the replacement option is much more appealing as I’d also been having other issues with the device prior to breaking it. I was wondering if anyone has done the replacement in store? And since my device is a generation older, would I just be out of luck or would they replace it with an equivalent of the 15 Pro Max?
