Apple maps

My apples maps voice won’t shut off even if I have the option clicked to have it silenced. After one of the upgrades I can’t get the maps voice to shut off. Anyone else? If so, how do you make it stop?

Turn voice directions on or off or change the volume

Do one of the following:

  • With turn-by-turn directions showing, tap the route card at the bottom of the screen, tap Audio, then choose an option.
  • Before you start your next route, go to Settings  > Maps > Navigation & Guidance, then choose an option (below Navigation Voice Volume).

See Change audio settings for turn-by-turn directions in Maps on iPhone.

Probably you are referring to Sound on Maps.

  • When Driving Focus is turned on, or if iPhone locks automatically, Maps remains onscreen and continues to speak directions. Even if you open another app, you continue to receive turn-by-turn directions. (To return to Maps from another app, tap the directions banner at the top of the screen or the navigation indicator  in the status bar.)

Turn spoken directions on or off

  • Tap the Go button to begin following a set of directions, tap the audio button on the map (for example, ), then choose an option.

Button Description

  • All directions are spoken.
  • Only driving alerts are spoken.
  • No directions are spoken.
