Bad touch sensitivity on my iPad Pro's screen

I’ve had bad touch sensitivity on my ipad pro for a few months now, Apple pencil works completely fine, but using the ipad with fingers is very unsensitive. I have to often press several times to get ipad to recognize the touch.

I thought it was just the ipad going bad, but then I noticed a friend of mine ask on Facebook if anyone else was having the same issue, and suddenly there were 20 ipad owners with all different ipad types and generations all complaining about the same issue. Also everyone said that using it with Apple pencil works as it should, but the issue is using it with fingers.

One person said to play with the settings inside accessability->touch, but nobody got theirs working correctly. Is this a broader bug? Anyone else experiencing the same? Goes without saying I’ve tried all the typical troubleshooting tips like restarting the ipad etc.

Are you using your iPad in an environment with particularly low humidity - or have dry skin? Both of these factors can affect touch sensitivity. Sometimes using a "light" skin moisturiser can help alleviate this particular issue.

Perhaps you are using a film or tempered glass Screen Protector? Some poorly designed (often cheap) Screen Protectors are known to cause issues with touch-screen responsiveness. If you have a Screen Protector fitted, remove it - and test your iPad.

Otherwise, you might be well advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

The issue that you describe is not widespread. While you believe you have identified 20 others with a similar issue, consider the many millions of users that don't share this problem.

To reiterate, would be well advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

I’m using my ipad the same way and in the same environment as always, nothing has changed except the touch sensitivity. My skin is fine, so is the air humidity, this seems more like a software issue as suddenly and about the same time several people in my friend circle said the same thing about their iPads of different models and generations, and everyone has been extremely annoyed by it, they, like me just thought their iPads were failing and did not question it as a software problem as nobody had ever said anything about it out loud, but 20 people having the same issue with different model ipads makes it very unlikely to be a problem with skin moisture, air humidity, screen protector or even failing hardware. This is at the moment localized to Finland so I’m checking if anyone else is having the same problems

Hi, I’m having the same issue with iPad Pro 12.” 6th generation (York, UK) I have AppleCare+ and had it replaced and it unfortunately has the same problem.

I still have 5th generation iPad Pro 12.9” and it works absolutely fine, even with a screen protector.

my skin is fine and I use the new iPad in the same room as the 5th generation. I use it for gaming mostly and the game I play is heavily swipe dependant, so it was easy to recreate the issue.

Any help at this point will be gratefully received; thanks in advance.
