All my emails disappeared after updating my iPhone

Go to your email provider's web portal and check your mail there. See if the mail still exists. Most mail providers now have IMAP accounts, so all you would need to do if the mail is still on the server is to delete the account from your iPhone, then reinstall it. That should re-sync your mail.

Update put me in Primary mode on each email account. Click on the three dots in the upper right and switch to List.

I was able to recover mine after upgrade

if using gmail renter your email account password in settings for mail and also verify your google account info, that it’s you accessing the account on all your devices.

What exactly did you try? If you watched them disappear, then it sounds like something else. The deleting of the mail accounts and then reinstalling them should have worked.

If you have a backup of your iPhone that was made before you installed the iOS update, try restoring to that backup. Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Delete the mail account and reinstall it. You can follow all of the steps in my earlier response to check on your mail status.

This just happened to me but had nothing to do with an update. Every read email across my yahoo, outlook and gmail accounts served through the Apple Mail app, from July 25th 2024 to August of 2030 is GONE.

I spent about 20 minutes on the phone with yahoo. Who blamed Apple. Unable to recover any of them.

I spent an hour on the phone with Apple. We realized it was across all accounts. Even my daughter’s account that I monitor since she’s a minor. They said they can’t recover them.

I'm devastated. I just assumed paying for cloud storage meant stuff was safely saved in the cloud.

Your emails are still their the new apple mail app has a feature that condenses them into sub folders called categories. To turn this feature off in the top right side of the mail app are 3 dots select and turn of “categories” and choose “list view”

All of the emails for my Gmail account on my iPhone, iPad and MacBook that were residing in my inbox, ones with attachments, all of which I had opened and read and decided to keep in my inbox, are gone. How do I get them back? This occurred with the latest Apple update on April 9/10.

I had the same thing happen after setting up my new I pad air. All my emails were gone in all my email accounts, which were both some old AOL and gmail accounts. Spoke to apple support and they insisted that it was a server error with the email providers. Hard to believe both AOL and gmail servers went down at exactly the same time. The only common denominator was that this happened right after I set up my new Ipad. The representative insisted that he had never heard of both going our at the same time. Maybe he should have googled it.

All advice is futile here - whatever is suggested NEEDS the MAIL TAB in settings that has vanished after i upgraded to ios 18 on a iph 14. How do i get this back? Adding the mail app from app lib does not work - it simply opens mail - cannot access all mail accts from here and check settings

Oct 23 2024 I updated my phone and 2 of my three email accounts have disappeared and the third is non functioning. Have tried multiple ways to fix to no avail. I have a lot of important information on there and need that account back .. what the heck is going on? Did that update corrupt everything? I’m so frustrated and mad.

My phone just updated and I woke up this morning with all my emails missing off my phone they also got removed off the servers from ALL my personal and work accounts with gmail and exchange. WTF??? I dug around and they all ended up in the trash. I had to import them back to my inbox but now my apple devices won't sync up with them. This is crazy.

Have had issues since updateing software culminating in losing all my email despite saving them and following all the steps on apples help pages before reinstalling them. They were all gone the next morning. Apple says its BT. BT says its apple. I spoke to a senior technical advisor yesterday who told me that in all th eyaers he has worked here he had never heard of this issue. Well there are (currently) 211 people here who disagree and are having the same issue.

I’ve been running down issues with my brand new iPhone 16 Pro Max since the day I got it which was two days ago and it’s cascading and cascading problems. Email cannot happen to a mother of three boys who all have appointments due and all those emails have vanished.
