iPhone 15 Pro Max Always ON enabled, but display still turns off

Always ON is enable, yet, as soon as I hit the power button to "turn it off" or it times out, the display goes out. Always on does not kick in.

  • iPhone facing up
  • it's not in my pocket or a bag
  • Sleep Focus is configured, but not turned on
  • Low Power is NOT on
  • iPhone is on my desk, not connected to CarPlay
  • Continuity Camera enabled, but not in use
  • I have my AppleWatch with me, 2 ft from my phone

What else should I be looking for?

iPhone 15 Pro Max

Go to Settings > Display & Brightness, then turn off Always On Display. Then after 3-4 secs Turn it On again.

The iPhone display stays on while you’re looking at it, but it dims and eventually locks (for your security) when you look away for a while. If you need the display to stay on longer (for example, when you’re navigating with Maps), you can change how long it takes iPhone to automatically dim and lock.
