Muffled audio recording videos with iphone 12

I recently got an iPhone 12 and i noticed that the audio becomes muffled whenever i zoom in while recording in my camera app (this doesn’t happen for example in the instagram app). I have tried to turn off the stereo recording in settings and it still sounds muffled if i zoom while recording a video. It will record with normal audio while in x05 camera mode and in x1 but the moment I zoom the audio becomes completely muffled. The mic is clean (i did so the moment I noticed the sound was muffled) and my phone is on the latest iOs version, any thoughts what else might be?
