Unable to import music into iTunes from an external CD drive

Okay, I found a solution that worked for me.

1. Head to the Apple menu > System Settings.
2. Click Security & Privacy(for macOS Monterey and earlier) on the pane, or Privacy & Security(for macOS Ventura and later) on the left sidebar.
3. Under the Privacy section, find and open Files and Folders.
4. Locate the target app (Music) and click it to show the options.
5. Tick Removable Volumes under the app to enable it to be accessed.

I have the same issue, iMac 27" recently updated to MacOS 14.3.1, and got the same pop up window 'do you want to allow an external device to access media' and clicked no. Now I can't import music into iTunes from my external Apple Superdrive and I get the same Error code (-54) message. I have tried multiple cd's and multiple drives with the same results. I even bought a new external drive and tried all of my USB ports. Each of the drives work for other programs and I too can drag and drop the music files to tediously get the files into iTunes.

I agree that getting back to the access request and clicking yes would fix the problem. Thank you .
