My iPhone reader does work

I tried to pay with my iPhone or tried to use Apple Pay but the card reader at the store won’t or it could read my iPhone

Apple pay won’t connect to reader I have a problem with my apple pay. The card pops up when i duoble click, but when i hold it near the reader nothing happens. can't select card when using Apple Pay I'm in the habit of using Apple Pay for virtually everything these days. I've noticed a frustrating change since updating to iOS 26. If I double click the side button to bring up the wallet and Face ID it before presenting the phone to the reader, I can't select a card other than the default. That means I end up closing it, manually opening the wallet app, selecting the card I want, then double-clicking to authorize it. I have not yet had the chance to try presenting the phone to the reader without doing anything first to see if it behaves differently. Am I missing a setting somewhere? I hate to be a whiner, but it's a PITA.

I don’t understand what you’re asking for. Your title says your iPhone works and so does the last part of your sentence.
