Best 1TB External Portable SSD USB-C For iPhone 15 Pro Max?

I'm looking for the overall best/fastest portable external SSD that is USB-C. I seen a lot of SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD's where people lost all their files, or it not being compatible in general with the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I have my sights on the Samsung T9 Touch 1TB Portable External SSD, Samsung T7 1TB Portable External SSD, Crucial X9 Portable External SSD, or the XS2000 High Performance External SSD.

What would you recommend for shooting in ProRAW?

My recommendation would be to store all files on iCloud Drive or any other Cloud Drives ( Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox, Flickr, box, AmazonDrive, Adobe Creative Cloud, etc)

Upload using the Files App.

Cloud drives offer several advantages over external hard drives:

Accessibility:

  • Universal access: With an internet connection, you can access your files on any device, anywhere in the world. External hard drives require you to be physically near the drive or have it connected to a specific device.

Automatic Backup and Security:

  • Automatic backups: Cloud storage can automatically sync and back up your files, ensuring you always have an up-to-date copy in case of device failure. Manually copying to an external drive can be easily forgotten.
  • Potentially more secure: Reputable cloud storage providers offer robust security measures like encryption to protect your data from physical theft or local disasters like fire or floods. While you can encrypt external drives, they are still vulnerable if lost or stolen.

Collaboration and Sharing:

  • Easier sharing: Cloud storage makes it easy to share files and folders with others. You can grant different access levels and collaborate on documents in real time. Sharing with external drives can be cumbersome.

Other Advantages:

  • Frees up device space: Storing data in the cloud saves space on your local device, which can be especially helpful for laptops and tablets with limited storage.
  • Disaster recovery: Cloud storage protects your data from physical disasters that might damage an external hard drive.

However, cloud storage also has drawbacks like dependence on a stable internet connection. Consider your needs when choosing between cloud storage and external hard drives.

Good defense of the value proposition of cloud storage, sir, but I think the emphasis of most who ask the SSD question isn't about storage. It's about spooling off large ProRes 4K Apple Log raw video onto an SSD instead of burning through the phone's entire memory in a few moments.

I've used a Buffalo SSD that came out of my pocket and snapped right in (with an adapter that stays on it always). It was plenty fast enough (300 MB/sec minimum required). However, it stopped working, and I'm shopping for a better alternative that will hold up better. Even if it was the adapter that went bad, I need a better solution.

I was hoping that by now, there would be some product offerings that worked seamlessly with the iPhone 15 Pro Max. A tempting example is the Hagibis 2230 M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure.

I have a few strong reasons for wanting to avoid that one, but it's getting VERY close to the sort of solution I'm yearning for.

Are there any others anywhere?

Respectfully - MJS
