can apple make in photo the ability to tag thing other than faces like pets, cars and people without face facing the camera..

I am a Jeep owner and a pet lover so I would be nice to faces to be able to recognize or just manually be able to tag them. Plus I would also like to be able to manually tag faces that aren’t looking at the camera in photos

This is already possible in Photos for Mac, just not in Photos iOS on an iPhone or iPad.

Which device are you using with Photos?

In Photos for Mac you just have to open the Infor for a photo, then click the "+" button in the Info where the faces are shown, and you can circle anything in the Image to name it.

For example, I tagged the stars and constellations in the photos of the starry sky:

I am also using it to name the faces of statues or in paintings, flowers, butterflies, whatever needs tagging.

léonie: Wow, I had not thought of that! I'm not sure I want to keep all my pictures of Deneb or Vega (Is it Wega in German?) together, but this is great for wildlife. How do you handle so many names in the People album?

Lil-EDJ, also in Mac you can use keywords as a way of marking--not the items, but pictures with the items in them. So léonie's image above could have keywords of Deneb, Vega, and Altair, and even the keyword SummerTriangle, to help find them in the Library, but then you'd have to figure out which star was which.

Keywords don't work on the iPhone or iPad, but you can put the words in captions so you can search for them. I'm having to repeat everything from titles and keywords into the captions for use on the phone.

It is now easier to handle many People and Pets since Sonoma, because we now can sort the People & Pets album alphabetically.

I have set the Settings in Contacts to use the name format "last name, first name" and to always use the full name as a short name.

And for entries, that are not friends and family or colleagues, I prefix the name in People and Pets with a prefix, as you can see in my screenshot - I am using the prefix "Stern:" for stars, etc.

And yes, "Wega" is the German name for "Vega", the future polar star in twelve thousand years 😀
