Where are Safari Store favorites after re-installation of macOS?

Hello - I wonder if you can help me. Please!

I have an Intel Apple iMac just over six years old, an iPhone14 and an iPad Pro. I recently started my iMac in Internet recovery mode and, using Disc Utility, erased my hard drive. On reinstallation of  macOS Ventura 13.6.4 (22G513) my Safari browser still holds all of my 'favourites' just as before the disc erasure. My question is, where does Safari/Apple Store all this information if it is not on my hard drive?

Thanks if you can help me understand.

It’s synced to your icloud account. When you signed back in to icloud after re-installing macOS, it synced your favorites back to the machine.
