APPLE TV TOO LOUD WHEN CONNECTING TO HOTEL TV

I'm hoping this shows up in the correct thread. I'm staying at a Residence Inn for 2 months and was having the same issue. Apple techs tried to troubleshoot for over an hour. I also borrowed the actual LG TV remote so I could get into SETTINGS, but the HDMI CEC option is blocked. The only solution, unplug the hotel box that is mounted on the back of the hotel TV. You will still need to turn down the volume each time you turn on the TV, but at least the volume can be turned down.

This worked for me:

  • Unplug HDMI from the TV that runs from the box to the TV
  • Unplug the telephone wire from the TV. The port on the TV was labeled “Data” and was under a section of ports that was named “Hospitality TV”in my case.
  • Plug Apple TV HDMI to the same HDMI port as what Marriott box was using.

HDMI-CEC started working after doing these steps.
