Unable to sync the whole music library on to my new iPod.

I recently bought an iPod touch 6th gen because I wanted a way to listen to music that wouldn't drain my iPhone battery when I was out and about. I am familiar with iTunes and iPods since I've had different models since 2004, I am also familiar with how to transfer music to an iPod (at least I thought I was). Problem I've been having with my new iPod is that when I connect and sync the iPod and click on the option "Sync all music library" for some reason it only syncs one of my playlists and music I've downloaded in the past six months or so. I can't figure out why it won't sync my whole library, it shouldn't be a problem of space since the iPod has 128 GB of storage. Maybe in 2024 this is a dated issue but I really would like some help in being able to use my iPod

If you have selected to Sync Entire music library the first thing you should notice is how many songs will be synchronised with the iPod (that's next to the Sync Music tick box (checkbox). Does that figure tie up with anything that you expect?


When you state that only one playlist is added to the iPod, are you looking in Playlists? If so, don't forget that the Playlists section lists only Playlists and what is in them. If you have synchronised they entire library, including songs not in specific playlists, they will be listed under the Music/Library section. Have you looked in the other menus; i.e. songs, albums and artists?


If music is not added to your iPod, it will be for one of the following reasons:

    • you have selected sync only selected playlists, artists, albums and genres (yes, I noted that you say you've selected the entire library)
    • songs are not ticked (checked) in the main library. In the Songs view every song has a tick-box (checkbox) next to the title; if the song isn't ticked, it doesn't get added to a device. In thew other views (albums, artists etc.) the song is greyed out if oit is not ticked. Right-click the song and look for the menu option Tick selection, or Untick selection (check or uncheck the selection). A song needs to be ticked, so the menu option will say Untick selection
    • the Sync was incomplete. Either:
      • the Sync was interrupted
      • the erratic sync effect occurred. Yes, this is a bug, that has bene with us for many years (and is unlikely to be fixed now). However, this usually only affects a few songs, not nearly all of them. The fix (when it works) is to Sync again
