Using iMac 2017 as a second monitor for iMac 2023

Can I use my old (2017) iMac as a second display for my new (2023) iMac? When I open the Displays in System Preferences on both, I see both iMacs. (They are physically sitting side-by-side as well.) Where do I go from here?

Apple only provides the Target Display Mode for using an older iMac as a secondary display with another Mac. However, neither of your Macs qualify ... as they are both too "new."

However, there is a potential workaround:

To get the same functionality that target display mode offers with Mac to Mac (and even get PC to Mac and iPad to Mac) support, Luna Display and Duet Display are two of the top options.
