There is scant information regarding connecting the gen 10 iPad and a midi device.
Gen 9 and under connect with lightning, but the get 10 is USB-C.
I bought an Apple lightning to USB3 camera adapter and an Apple USB-C to lightning adapter.
I connected them together and added a simple male lightning to USB-C adaptor for the power and I get a message saying the accessory is not supported.
Any ideas?

Presumably your Midi Controller has a USB interface. Attempting to daisy chain adapters in the manner that you describe is unlikely to be successful.
