After iOS 17.4 update Wi-Fi doesn't work on iPhone 14 Pro Max

After upgrading to 17.4 on my IPhone 14 Pro Max, the Wifi on the phone will not work any more. I tried all the possible suggestions but to no avail. Resetting the phone, resetting network settings, turning wifi off and on, forgetting the network and reconnecting. Nothing seems to bring Wifi back. Any suggestions? Thanks beforehand for any help you might provide.

This worked for me!! To remove VPN settings installed by a configuration profile, go to Settings > General > VPN & Device Management, select the configuration profile, then tap Remove Profile. This also removes other settings and accounts provided by the profile. There was a VPN for McAfee and once I deleted it, my phone instantly connected to Wifi.

If your WIFI network is using whitelist for allowed MAC address - this address might have been changed (randomly rolled again). Nowadays MAC is change'able by software and iOS devices use virtual MAC to protect the real "physical" one and avoid tracing.

This is a kind of setting on the wifi network list on the iOS device. Just make the unsuccessfull connection and watch for the network name SSID to show on the list, then use the info icon to dig in this network settings and:

a) write down the MAC used for "private address" option, or

b) not-recommended: turn off this setting and wtite down the physical MAC

Then change your router settings by adding this address to white list, or (not recommended if already whitelisting) turn off whitelist check to let your phone in.

*this address is not randomly generated every time, but may change from time to time for unknown reasons - apparently it happened for my phone during some OS upgrade

Hi Vanilla_Gorilla

My problem was apparently caused because I was using 1.1.1.1 from Cloudflare. I deleted the VPN profile and that solved the problem. After your question, I have done some testing by reinstalling 1.1.1.1 and WiFi is still working, so I have to assume that the problem is caused by the upgrade changing something, that you can correct by deleting the profile and reinstalling it later. I cannot say that this will work for everybody, but it is a good starting point. I hope this helped. Try reinstalling your VPN and if WiFi still works, bingo, but if not you can again delete the VPN profile to get WiFi back.

I've been experiencing this issue for nearly a month and a half now after updating my iPhone 12 to iOS 17.4.1 and I just came across this forum and I deleted all my VPN settings and restarted my iPhone and my WiFi, Bluetooth, flashlight, and back camera is working once again. Thank you!

I contacted Apple Support a while back and they said that the motherboard was damaged when they did a remote diagnostics. They referred me to an Authorized Agent in my country, Trinidad and Tobago to repair my iPhone and the cost was about $4,000.00 TTD (around $589.54 USD) and it was absolute craziness!

I was no longer under warranty and I think that an iOS update should have patched these things up or Apple should have done a little better since I have been a very long standing customer for quite a while now.

Once again, thank you guys! The steps were pretty helpful and I hope lots of more people who are experiencing the same issue, get to these forums.

My device is enrolled with the organization I work for. Internet would be extremely slow or not work at all, especially if I were trying to stream video. I just tried disabling and re-enabling Web Protection in the Defender (MDE) app and this has fixed my issue (doing this also disabled and re-enabled VPN in the background). At least for now, hopefully it lasts.

I lost WiFi after 17.3 I’m personally hoping 17.4 update resolves whatever apple messed up. I even had my phone checked out to make sure hardware wasn’t broken.

WiFi greyed out and I lost Bluetooth. All support could recommend was buying a new phone. I deleted vpn, reset network settings, and tried a backup from a year prior. Whatever apple did seriously messed up a lot of phones. The fact that they can’t put a patch out when so many customers are having issues is pretty sad.
