Unable to access iPhone system after dropping it.

In December I dropped my iPhone X and it hit the ground bottom of the phone first so that the screen didn’t crack but immediately all the pixels on the lower 1/3 of the screen died. When I tried to unlock the phone, I pressed ‘3’ but the ‘7’ lit up so obviously there’s been some major damage. I’ve since gotten a new phone however I need to recover the photos off my old one (not all of them were backed up/in the cloud) but I can’t unlock the phone. When I plug it into a PC, the PC doesn’t recognize there’s anything plugged in, I assume because the phone is locked. My question is, will replacing the screen fix the issue or is this much worse. TIA!
