Unable to find recently sent emails.

Today I went to the All Sent folder to see some recently sent emails but only found emails that were sent up until a little over a month ago.

I sent two emails yesterday and one today and neither are there.

Thank you for your comprehensive response. I am going to assume that you are set up to use the iMap protocol. If so, what is in your computer should match what is on the GMAIL server. I would next check that using your browser to access it. If it is different, that will confirm that the problem is only in your computer. if it is the same, then I think you may have a GMAIL issue and I would ask them for assistance.

I would ask what email app you are using. It may help to try the following items.

  • Restart the computer in a safe mode. That allows the operating system to repair itself and clean out its caches.
  • If it is an email app other than Mail, check with the vendor's support site for assistance.
  • If your email is set up to use imap you can use a browser to visit the email provider's server site and see what is recorded there.
  • If nothing above works, you can also reinstall the email app. If it is Mail, you will have to reinstall the Apple operating system in order to reinstall Mail.

I continue to try everything I can think of. My mail goes to my Mail Inbox as well as a GMail Inbox.

Whenever I respond to or send something from either mailbox, I see it in both Sent folders...but only for a time. If I check again in an hour or so, it is gone. However, if I do a Search, I can find it.

If I have a Setting that is doing this, I cannot find it.

Please understand that when you say "I continue to try everything I can think of" that doesn't tell us anything useful. What we need to know specifically what you have done and what the result was. For example, you never stated whether you did any of the things I suggested above. Please click on the link below and read the information there.

I apologize that I wasn't specific in my first response.

Yes, I did try everything you suggested, but it is still the same. Emails I sent a month or two ago are there, along with everything prior, but anything I have sent (created) or emails I have replied to, only stay in the Sent box for a short time. A few hours.

When I say I "tried Everything" I can think of, I mean I looked at all the help responses in Mail and GMail and could not find an answer. But I see others have the problem.

I have gone to Settings - Accounts - Mailbox Behaviors, but I have not found anything that says something like ...Sent mail goes to Sent folder, or Sent mail will remain in Sent Mail folder for X amount of days.

I use both Apple Mail and GMail and have for years. This was never a problem and I only noticed it when I went looking for an email to confirm that I had sent it. The folder only contained emails that were sent before early February.

I am reluctant to reinstall the Mail app and the OS because I fear I could lose something very important.

My Mac OS is up to date and so is my IPhone.
