My iPad updated and now the display is unresponsive

I updated to iPadOS 17.4 and now the touch screen is completely unresponsive. I can't enter the passcode to login, and I can't power down using the slider. I have force-restarted the device several times (using the up vol/down vol and top button, as per Apple instructions). And, I've connected to my Mac via USB, force-restarted into the Restore/Update window, and done a complete Restore once and a complete Update once, with help from the Apple support online chat. Nothing has fixed the issue. The device is completely unresponsive and unusable...

Does anyone know if there are other options for repair / recovery via connection to the Mac or if it's possible to rollback the OS upgrade? I fear the device may be permanently bricked.

If you have been unable to resolve the problem with a forced-restart and/or factory restore, you would be best advised to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. You can contact the Support Team using the Support link at top-right or bottom-left of this page.

Alternatively, you can initiate and manage your support cases from Apple devices using the excellent Apple Support App. If not already installed, the App can be downloaded from the App Store:

You might also visit the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider (AASP) - where the technicians will be able to offer assistance:

Found that my iPad pro m1 also had problems when starting it today after updating to 17.4 yesterday. Apple logo splash-screen showed up and disappeared, but after that completely dark. No reaction from tuch-screen or buttons. Plugged it in to charge to see if that could wake it up, but nothing. Then by pressing the top + volume buttons I got the shutdown screen to appear, so the device was apparently on but not showing the screen, and after cancelling this I could start to use the device again. Don’t know if this helps, but hope you manage to wake your device as well.

I've done a complete restore to factory conditions and am now just stuck on the opening 'Hello' screen. It wants me to swipe up to start the setup routine, but the touch screen is completely unresponsive and swiping does nothing. I can get to the power down screen by pressing the top and vol buttons but can't swipe on the shutdown slider, so it's also impossible to shutdown. The iPad is stuck in a permanent limbo - unable to log in or shutdown. I'll take it in to see if a hardware guru can discover something. But, it was working fine prior to the OS upgrade...
