Watching Apple TV on an android TV. How do I get the close captioning bigger?

I’m watching Apple TV on a Sony android TV. Suddenly the close captioning is a little tiny writing that I cannot read. It doesn’t matter what I do on my iPad Pro. It doesn’t make it bigger on the TV. I’m watching it in a third-party app or whatever they call it on apple+.
