iPhone damaged due to using wrong sim

Being told by Total Verizon that I need to throw away my new IPhone SE 3rd gen phone cuz I put the SIM card in from a IPhone 6 and that caused internal damage and the phone is now useless. Does that sound right?

iPad, iPadOS 16

If you forces a SIM that was the wrong size into it, or put it in incorrectly, it’s conceivable that it may have done physical damage. If that’s the case, you don’t need to ‘throw it away’. What you need to do in that case is Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of your local Apple Store and get it replaced.

The SIM card used in an iPhone SE 3rd generation is the exact same size SIM card which Apple used in iPhone 6. They both use Nano-Sim and honestly, if the SIM from your iPhone 6 was by some odd chance the wrong size (which it is not), it wouldn't fit in the SIM Tray, so it could not damage your iPhone to begin with. Verizon is not being truthful with you at all on this.

We, just users like you, cannot diagnose that kind of issue remotely, sorry.

I suggest that you make an appointment (*) and have your device inspected at an Apple Store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) among this list:--> https://locate.apple.com/choose-country-region . After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options.

Regards

Giulio
