That's not how software updates work.

Rather something was wrong before and the new update exposed it.

Imagine you have a bad location in memory that had previously been unused but is now used to store something important.

You won't experience any issues until the bad memory location holds something important.

My iPhone 11 has never been the same after that update but I’m still limping along. Now there’s another update. I’m too afraid to do it

Same thing happened to me! I have an iPhone 13. It wouldn't update overnight while on the charger, so I had to choose "update now" when I got up yesterday. All was fine and I had no issues until this morning when it randomly showed the spinning wheel thing for a few minutes, then the apple logo appeared. It's been stuck in a loop. After trying all the things and even contacting support online, I now have to take it to the apple store.

Same happened with my son’s iPhone 11 Pro. Company response of the update revealing hardware issues rather than causing problems in itself is terribly convenient. In other words you’re on your own pay up. (Ideally for a brand new iPhone) apple used to behave differently.

I have no idea where to start. I don't even have an Apple repair shop in my little town

Having problem in Face ID and password .

I’ve also noticed that immediately after it restarts, my calling app doesn’t work properly and won’t let me click between voicemail and dial pad for example.
