I have finally found the reason for overheating and possibly also for unacceptable battery drain under 17.4.1 for my case (iPhone 13 Pro, 17.4.1). The culprit is "Require Attention for Face ID", "Attention-Aware Features" or perhaps both.

After one day of usage I can confirm that battery life is back to normal levels: about 10% drop in one hour screen-on browsing.

This means about 10 hours browsing time at modest screen brightness from a full charge, which is more or less what I was getting before "upgrading" to 17.4 (17.4.1) with my iPhone 13 Pro (now at at 92% battery health).

With "Require Attention for Face ID" and "Attention-Aware Features" ON, I get instead more than 20% drop per hour of browsing under otherwise the same conditions (connection, position, screen brightness, apps used, etc.)

Hello,

Thanks for the tips, but you can read that anywhere. I've always had a good feeling with the iPhone over the last 3 years. That's been gone for a few weeks. Since IOS 17.4.

Now I always have a spare battery with me. I've only experienced something like this on Android phones.

I've reset the network, it said somewhere, maybe that will help.

Same here, if they don't fix this fast I will no longer use Apple products!!! I have been hanging on a long long time, had the iPhone since version 2, and this may be my last!!

Do not despair. iOS 18 will bring great benefits. You will be able to place an icon on the home screen wherever you want, at your please! With some luck, you will be able to achieve the battery life you have paid for. Just be patient, do not despair. Buy another Apple device!

Exactly what’s happening to me. I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max - it‘s been a disaster. I’m traveling now and google maps absolutely draining my batter. With 1.5hrs very light screen time, i’m at 50%. It’s still the morning. Very bad experience

Buy a new iPhone 15 Pro Max! Your iPhone 15 Pro Max was designed to work well with iOS 17.3. Buy another one! Apple has great trade in offers. Apple cares about sustainability! Buy a new phone!

The reason is that you should buy a new phone. You have an iPhone 14+. Not even iPhones 15 get a reasonable battery life with 17.4.1, according to this thread! Buy an iPhone 15+ and pray! Do you expect Apple to care about people who have an iPhone 14+? My 13Pro used to run for about two days on iOS 16 and after a 100% charge. On 17.4.1 it runs at most for 5 hours! Apple cares about costumers, Apple cares about sustainability!

New 15 pro, 4 months old and with every update, it gets worse and worse. I charged to 80% an hour ago. the phone is sitting on my desk and it is now 62% with no use whatsoever. I can't tell you how ****** I am that Apple can't get their **** together enough to fix this issue. I am so ready to switch to another brand. I have been buying iPhones since the beginning and everytime the same darn thing happens and I tell myself, this is the last time.

I follow every suggestion on how NOT to drain the battery and it's so patronizing to have the so called experts have the same "fix" everytime, AND...it never works. I suppose there will be another update soon to fix the previous update..that seems to be how Apple works. If you can take the time to fix it the 2nd time around, you can **** well

take the time to do it right first time around!

make something without greed and ego and the battery would last weeks ! All about profit unfortunately.

I’ve had iPhones since day one , as much as I USED to love apple .

I have iMac, watch, iPhone , etc etc

they are made to go wrong within a certain timeframe! We are being mugged off by MASSIVE greed that’s the problem. Not the battery or the phones ! The people making them and programming them

5 of 6 apple products are more than doubling their usual drain. The one that is not is my wife’s original iPad Air 1, which has been in constant use since she bought it new. It still has its original battery and gives her longer use than the year old one that I bought her since the original was no longer receiving updates. If you got battery and usage so right in 2010 why does my watch, iPhone, and pad all drain in record time. Going for the championship in the wrong direction! James

instantly after 17.4 update battery dropped 20% and phone will not reach full charge .. had ZERO issues before. phone charge would last all day and never get hot now my phone feels like it has been sitting in the sun all day long . Charged phone over night and woke up in morning and it was only at 77%. how do I back out of this update it has completely wrecked my phone. I have my phone plugged in to charge now and it has been 20 min and it wont mover % up staying at 75% ( shows Green Lighting blot that it should be charging but nothing is happening)

I need help!!!
