After updating my Apple TV to the recent tvOS 17.4, the CEC control via HDMI is lost. Afterwards I have reset Apple TV to its default values, but it did not solve the problem. I also cycled the CEC control off/on (Viera Link) on my Panasonic LX1500 OLED - without any difference. Does anyone here experience the same issue?

Apple released tvOS 17.5 today and I confirmed it contains the fix for the HDMI CEC issue with TV remotes. You can update in Settings -> System -> Software Updates.

Didnt work for me. Plugged and un pluged for 6 or 7 times but it didnt enter in recovery mode.

The new one will be the latest model with 128gigs of storage and the A15 Bionic chip, its only money. Wish I knew some hackers that would enjoy messing with it, I’m too old for such fun.

Me too. Working remote now only controls tv volume. CEC broken. Like Apple’s parental controls that don’t work anymore. Guess they sell more remotes now. 👍
I'm really confused by your mentioning "A1942", asferreira. This model does not show up in any lists of Apple TVs that I find.

Out of nowhere, without any intervention on my part, it started working again. Let's see if it doesn't revert back to the error.
My CEC started working again today. I made no changes.

Oh, you mean a first generation. Well, either way it might be useful if it comes with firmware lower than 17.4… my first gen was also refurbished it came with 13.3 or so, I didn’t update it until 14
Oh, one more thing. The Fire TV remote still controls my Onkyo AVR and Samsung TV as it always has, so everything points to Apple TV CEC not functioning as before.
