After updating my Apple TV to the recent tvOS 17.4, the CEC control via HDMI is lost. Afterwards I have reset Apple TV to its default values, but it did not solve the problem. I also cycled the CEC control off/on (Viera Link) on my Panasonic LX1500 OLED - without any difference. Does anyone here experience the same issue?

To everyone discussing AppleTV remote (black, silver, or whatever): This thread is not about a remote that came with the AppleTV. It's about television remote (Samsung, LG, Panasonic, etc.), that through the magic of HDMI CEC (over HDMI cable) can also control the AppleTV. These remotes don't have to be "learned", they just work out of the box. But now, at least with 17.4 and 1st generation 4K AppleTV, they don't.

Please add details, model number of your AppleTV and tvOS version currently and before recovery if possible.

Didnt work for me. Plugged and un pluged for 6 or 7 times but it didnt enter in recovery mode.

Do the Recover step 1st before doing a restart. The Restart step is the final thing you do after the TVos has redownloaded and finished installing.

Me too. Working remote now only controls tv volume. CEC broken. Like Apple’s parental controls that don’t work anymore. Guess they sell more remotes now. 👍
If they have put out a “mini update”, I have not gotten it yet. I will keep checking. Thanks…

Oh, you mean a first generation. Well, either way it might be useful if it comes with firmware lower than 17.4… my first gen was also refurbished it came with 13.3 or so, I didn’t update it until 14
This fixed worked once for me, but then can't repeat when it stopped working again.
