I've been using final cut pro for over 15 years but in the last decade i feel this app is just way behind its competitors.
no auto transcribe, cant change the fonts in subtitles. this program is dying with the people behind it.
you guys are not listening to your editors or even looking at the landscape of what content is in.

Closed Captions are an industry standard and encoded into the video files. There are strict specs and no, you should NOT change them into non-standard, or they won't work, period. No, Premiere Pro does not let you change closed captioning into non-standard formats.
Sub-titles are not a standard, just play text over video, not encoded, so you can do what you want with them. Don't confuse the two, very different animals.
There are several ways to do transcriptions, just via third party plugins and apps. Symone Says is the one I really like. But you're correct, other NLEs (including Vegas) are adding features that FCPX has been lacking for years.

I take ljeditsvideos' opinion positively. Reading the question, it sounds like you are criticizing FCP development, but I think the truth is the opposite. The OP has been using FCP for many years, so I think it was suggested to improve the quality of video creation.
I think supplementary text is important so that viewers can easily understand the content of the video. I think closed captioning is a great feature for people with hearing impairments and foreigners. For my own channel, I create all subtitle files in 12 languages myself. Although there are not many users who have the same idea, I too would like to be able to control subtitles with FCP.
