COPYING MUSIC FROM CD TO IMAC27"( MID 2015 RUNNING BIG SUR) VIA SUPERDRIVE GIVES ERROR 'CANNOT FIND FILE'.

This has happened with 3 or 4 recently purchased CDs inc Taylor Swift 1989 Her version/ Mark Knopfler& Emmylou Harris'All the Roadrunning'. CDs play fine on NAD CD Player

Hi, and welcome to the Apple (user-to-user) Community!

Re: "Copying Music from CD .... SuperDrive gives error "Cannot find file"

Wondering where you are transferring the music from CD's to, (eg: to Apple Music / to a Finder Folder etc.) and what method you are using:

Eg: importing to the Music app:

See how to: Import songs from CDs into Music on Mac - Apple Support

or

you can likely double-click the CD icon on the desktop to see all the files it contains, and just drag one, or more, or all of the files to a folder on the Mac.

Trouble-shooting if needed:

NB: You may need to connect the Superdrive to the Mac directly, using an adaptor, as you may not be able to transfer files if you just connect the superDrive to a hub connected to the Mac.

All the best :-)

Sorry, I don't know what the cause of some tracks not importing may be.

Am always using the "Drag files from CD to folder" way of transferring files, and that seems to work well.

You might want to make sure you have enough space on your Mac for the music files, as music in some file formats can use quite a lot of space:

See used and available storage space on your Mac - Apple Support

Wondering if you might want to check or change the import setting you are using:

Choose import settings in Music on Mac - Apple Support
