Connecting Nikon Coolscan 9000ED to Mac Studio

Is it possible to get a Nikon Coolscan 9000 ED scanner to connect and work with a Mac Studio 2023 running the latest version of Sonoma 14.3.1?

I will be using the following adapters 1) TB3 to TB2 adapter 2) TB2 to Firewire 800 Adapter 3) Firewire 800 to Firewire 400 adapter or cable? I will be using VueScan software.

I don't want to buy the adapters until I have some information as to whether the above adapter chain will work.

Thanks,

Tom

Apple dropped the TB-to-Firewire adapter a while back. Then, after a few weeks, it went out of stock on Amazon and B&H Photo Video. Now I don't even see listings for it at those places.

So you might not be able to find anyone who's selling one of the key adapters, even if it turns out that the chain would work.

It's too bad that Apple does not release a Thunderbolt 3 to Firewire 800 adapter, something that they should have done a long time ago when Thunderbolt 3 first came out.

BTW, don't be taken in by the "USB to FireWire" adapters that you see advertised on some sites.

You can't convert USB to FireWire just by gluing a USB-A connector and a FireWire connector together. USB and Firewire are too different. But if you randomly connect pins, you CAN connect them in a way that could potentially damage the equipment connected to the bogus adapter.
