CarPlay on IOS 17.4 not working properly

Apple just announced 17.4.1 with “bug fixes.” I’m afraid to upgrade to it.

I am having a similar problem with the 17.4.1 update. My phone connects to CarPlay with the cord, but anytime I try to do a voice command. It tells me something went wrong. Apple, please fix this.

17.1.4 has not corrected the sudden lack of audio/narration of directions by the Map app in my car via CarPlay. I am seriously missing this feature. iPhone 13.

Just chatted with apple. My car is not compatable. Supposedly they’re working some an update and there’s no way to go back to the previous iOS. I have the 24 Sonata N Line. I can’t use messaging through CarPlay. Siri tells me, sorry but I can’t show the results to you while you’re in the car. So we just wait for the update.

I am in a Nissan Murano 2021 and it wont even start up Carplay. The phone is working via the chord and bluetooth just fine using the cars connection system as if it is like carplay doesn't exist. It was literally working yesterday and I did the update to 17.4.1 and today this is what I am experiencing. Iphone 14 Pro Max user

Same here…after working many years proper, CarPlay doesn’t work anymore in Skoda Superb with cable and iPhone 14pro and iPhone 13 mini. . My wife’s and my iPhone with iOS 17.4.1 don’t connect, but my daughters iPhone without the latest update works properly. Since my cars system did not change it is Apple iOS who failed. Hope this will be solved soon, because I’m frequently traveling by car.

My issue with Apple Carplay on my iPhone 13 is that it connects with a cable but all phone calls won't go through the car's speakers. It's connected on the screen but no sound, I have to go to the speaker on the phone itself. Also can't hang up on the screen - only on the phone. This has only occurred since installing update 17.4.1

Maybe a bug in IOS 17.4 I would maybe wait or contact apple support on phone or messages or just wait for iOS 17.4.1

Add me to the long list. I have a 2021 Toyota Venza with a wired CP connection. My iPhone 15 with iOS 17.4 cycles trying to connect to CarPlay and never connects. I have tried more than 6 different cables without a twit of joy. Apple needs to step up and find a fix.

I’m having same issue. Was intermittent in 17.4 and totally broken in 17.4.1. It connects perfectly via cable or the car’s wireless network but not Bluetooth like it’s supposed to for wireless. Car is a 2023 LandRover with the latest Pivi Pro software. Phone is iPhone 14 Pro Max with 17.4.1

There is impossible to get carplay work. I have tried everything - resets, forget this unit, new connection. Sometimes it can work but it is after trying 20 times. Even with cable or wireless - same problem. You never know when or why it suddenly works, because next time it not. And when leaving your car coouple of minute you get back and cannot connect again.

How can apple sell so expensive phones and let them work so bad?? How can Apple release an update that do your phone useless?

As suggested in another post, upgrading to beta version 17.5 in Settings > General > software update > beta version seems to have fixed the issue for me and I can now use wireless carplay. Reconnected carplay to the vehicle after upgrading and carplay appears to function normally.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro on iOS 17.4.1 and use an aftermarket CarPlay unit in my vehicle and CarPlay randomly disconnects if it starts at all most of the time it either works for about 5 minutes or just shows a loading screen. Sometimes power cycling the phone and CarPlay unit works but it always fails again. It was fine prior to this update.
