CarPlay on IOS 17.4 not working properly

My wife’s iPhone is still working on 17.3, but mine after the upgrade to 17.4 is not. I can’t get sound control on steering wheel or infotainment knob control. I have already tried forgetting Bluetooth & CarPlay, and also reset the infotainment. I have a Camry 2023 with cable CarPlay. Any one knows a solution?

My carplay does not work any longer - but if I reset the display in the car and the phone like 10 times, I can have some lucky sometimes to get it connect. I have tried to start everything all over again, and again and again.

It is impossible to figure out what the problem is, because it can work sometimes - but then I get of my car for a while and when coming back again after five minutes coffebreak,, the carplay does not work again.

Wow. Okay. I don’t have that! I get from Settings-General-CarPlay-Vehicle… then I don’t have the option for Enable Notifications 🤷🏻‍♀️ when I try to use CarPlay to txt, Siri just goes to read my text reply and stops, then either says “sorry I can’t show notice to you while you’re in the car” or “ok I won’t send it” and she will actually send it and unsend the message. It’s very odd.

Apple!!!! What is happening with these updates????!!! Ever since I updated to 17.1, Waze and Maps stopped working!! Don’t you know that these are ESSENTIAL/CRUCIAL apps??!!! Do you mean to tell me that I have to disconnect my phone from my unit and resort to relying on my phone????!!!! Can you PLEASE conduct appropriate testing BEFORE releasing software updates???? This is software development 101!!!!!

This is hopeless

There is impossible to get carplay work. I have tried everything - resets, forget this unit, new connection. Sometimes it can work but it is after trying 20 times. Even with cable or wireless - same problem. You never know when or why it suddenly works, because next time it not. And when leaving your car coouple of minute you get back and cannot connect again.

How can apple sell so expensive phones and let them work so bad?? How can Apple release an update that do your phone useless?

please tell me why!!

When I try to reset - then carplay says like ”look for this passcode” on you phone to verify - but there is no passcode coming up on iphone. And sometimes is vice versa. There is a passcode on the phone, but no passcode on car-display. I have to try 10-15 times, with reset on cars screen. And wait for like 5 minutes. Suddenly it can connect and work until I leave the car.

The big problem now is that the Iphone lock you out from all other function in my (volkwagen) cars display.

I cannot even listen on radio - because the carplay are searching for my phone and I cannot stopped it. I have to try to reset 10 times - it can take 10-15 minutes before I get it connected. If i do not do this before driving my car, I cannot use the cars display at all! How can I fix this? Can Apple give me an answer? This is not safe driving or great for environment, when I have to start my car all over again before I can drive. And it is note safe when the phone crash the whole system!!!!

Its seems to be notifications on the iphone 15 pro as it has an always on display. My wives phone is perfect and this was perfect before ios17.4. Carplay also disconnects from a change in GSM coverage and kicks it out. So a mix between notifications and change in GSM coverage. Thats what I have narrowed it down to. However i have used it in airplane mode and still kicks it out. 😡. I hope they fix it soon. It is wrecking my head . BTW it is a wired connection also which makes it worse 🥴

I have a 2022 Honda Accord and I kept losing connection for CarPlay with iOS 17.4 and now I can't connect to CarPlay at all with 17.4.1 update. My husband has a 2022 Ford F150 and his CarPlay quit working as well. I'm trying to scroll through all these comments to see what a good solution might be. Someone suggested installing update 17.5 but it is not available in my Updates yet. Anyone else able to get that update?
