CarPlay on IOS 17.4 not working properly

My wife’s iPhone is still working on 17.3, but mine after the upgrade to 17.4 is not. I can’t get sound control on steering wheel or infotainment knob control. I have already tried forgetting Bluetooth & CarPlay, and also reset the infotainment. I have a Camry 2023 with cable CarPlay. Any one knows a solution?

Ok i figured out the fix for me. An apparently necessary carplay setting on my iphone, “Show notifications” was disabled. I was not familiar with this setting and have never touched so i didnt think of it earlier. As soon as i enabled that setting carplay worked properly.

maybe something reset that setting in an iphone update.

worth noting i also tried many other solutions from this forum which may or may not have contributed to it being fixed.

I have a 2020 Camry XSE, and I noticed that when using Apple CarPlay everything seemed to work except for the phone. For some reason, the audio would not come through to the head unit. Music, maps, voice controls for Siri, everything else was fine. Anytime I tried to place or receive a call the audio stayed on the phone. I went in to the CarPlay settings and selected “Forget Car”, and went back through the setup. All volumes had been reset to zero, so each had to be adjusted independently. Volume for the ringtone had to be set while an incoming call was in progress, car audio for the call had to be adjusted while the call was in progress. Siri volume also had to be adjusted while she was speaking. Once all

of that had been corrected, everything is now working properly as it did before the updates. Hopefully this will help someone else, perhaps with a similar issue to what I was experiencing.

I have struggled with this problem for a months now. I tested one thing, maybe others can do same.

I change the name of the connection inside my cars setting. ( I have Volkswagen) There was the name ”My WV xxxx” and thats the name my phone find in bluetooth-menu. I change that name to my own and then start the cars display all over again, it seems that the iphone then could start everything all over again. If someone else tried this?
