My Hotmail and my Live accounts keep saying that passwords are wrong

iPad and iPhone. My Hotmail and my Live accounts keeps saying that passwords are wrong. I have changed passwords without any difference. Now all mails in my Live account have disappeared. My hotmail account is almost OK except from the ongoing popups about the wrong password. This account can get my new mails. The Live account can’t funktion at all. I’m using iPad Air 3, 16.3.1..

My PC doesn’t have same problems with popups, and the hotmail there is OK. The live account is shows no mails at all.

In Google search it seems that other persons have similar problems. I have tried to get support from Microsoft without any luck.

what to do to get back my mails and stop popups with “wrong password”??

Regards from Nina

Some email providers now require the use of App Specific Passwords when accessing mail over IMAP or POP3. If this applies to your email account, you will need to generate a unique password for your iPad email account - that will differ from your normal Account Password. As examples - AOL, Yahoo, Google, Microsoft all use App Specific Passwords when using anything other than their own email client Apps.

Microsoft accounts include live.comoutlook.com and hotmail.com domains.

If you need to generate an App Specific Password, you’ll need to log-in to your Mail Providers account management webpage - using a web browser - and generate the Password from the appropriate account security page.
