Problem copying modified Adjustment layer to another machine

On one of our edit machines I modified an Adjustment layer in Motion to publish some extra parameters. The Adjustment 3D title shows up under Titles inside a Custom category. We edited a project using it and now want to open this project on another machine.

Like I have in the past for other titles, etc., I copied ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/Adjustment 3D/ to the other machine but the project is not recognizing it as what was used in the project and still shows missing title after relaunching FCP. It does see the Adjustment 3D title in the Custom category.

Both machines are running FCP 10.6.5. I've done this before easily so I'm not sure what I'm missing. I exported an XML of the project and the Adjustment 3D title does exist where it's looking (~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/Adjustment 3D. I confirmed that .localized suffix is present in Motion Templates.localized and Titles.localized.

Any ideas?

In the first paragraph, you say "Adjustment 3D" shows up inside a "Custom category".

In paragraph two, you say you copied ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/Adjustment 3D/ to the other machine...

Adjustment 3D is the category level folder that you copied. Are you sure the Adjustment 3D **template** was actually inside that category folder, or had it been moved to the (or a) Custom folder and the original Adjustment 3D category had been left in place (empty)?

If you're keeping the Adjustment 3D category, then the complete template path should be:

~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/Adjustment 3D/Adjustment 3D/[Adjustment 3D.moti + pngs and optional media folder]

So the path on the source machine is ~/Movies/Motion Templates/Titles/Adjustment Layers/Adjustment 3D/[moti, pngs, etc.] This Adjustment Layers category folder didn't exist on the target machine. But when I fixed the category folder on the target machine to match, the effect still shows up as missing. Sigh, I'm going to have to dig deeper to see exactly what the editor was doing on the source machine. Thanks again for your help Fox. I'll report back if I find an explanation.

Tom, our libraries are stored on a 10GbE NAS and can be accessed by three edit machines. In the (distant?) past we had issues with setting FCP to store custom Motion templates inside the library so I've always left the setting at the defaults of in the local Motion Templates folder. I'll have to experiment with this again to see if the problem has been fixed.
