DCP panic is a Display Co-Processer ie Graphics Processor panic.

if you want to trouble shoot further you can:

—A SafeBoot Use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support will sort many anomalies

Does a quick disk repair before it fully boots up, and certain system caches get cleared and rebuilt, third party system modifications and system accelerations are disabled.

Login and test. Reboot as normal and test. Caches get rebuilt automatically.

This test will tell you if third party interference; most extensions etc are not loaded in safe boot mode.

—Test issue in another user (or guest user) account Change Users & Groups settings on Mac - Apple Support

This will tell you if it a universal issue or isolated to your user/admin account.

all known to cause issues on the macOS

UPDATE THAT MAY HELP: After trying many things with no improvement, I started to think about the "DCP" part of "DCPEXT1 PANIC" and realized that if the Mac OS was telling we something funky was happening with the "display co-processor" (that's what the "DCP" part of "DCPEXT1" means) maybe I should be thinking more about things related to graphics processing and my display (a Dell U4924DW in my case). I checked to see if there was updated firmware available from Dell for my monitor, and sure enough, there was. I installed it five days ago and have been crash-free ever since. Not sure how many of you are having this kernel panic while using external monitors, but if you are, maybe check to see if there is a firmware update for your monitor?

I have a similar problem with my MBP M3 Max on 14.4. Upgrading to 14.4.1 didn't help, while downgrading to 14.3.1 solved the issue.

What's interesting: I tried to reproduce the issue on a 14" MBP M3 Pro with the same macOS version (14.4.1) and the same apps and the scenario, but there was no problem. This led me to believe the problem lies with the M3 Max driver support in macOS 14.4.* or faulty hardware on my given MBP M3 Max.

I have a suggestion for M3 Max owners:

Let's exchange details on reproducing our DCP PANIC crashes so other owners can confirm them on their M3 Max hardware. If we all can reproduce them, that means the problem affects all M3 Max users. If not, our hardware may have defects that are different from each other.

My case, which triggers kernel panic in a few minutes, is fully described in my post. In short, I started a Telegram Video call while running the Steam version of Civilization VI, and switched several times between the game and the call window with Cmd-Tab. All versions are the latest available: Telegram 10.9.1.260779 AppStore, macOS 14.4.1, Civilization VI 1.0.12.54 (368029.13) Metal. The bug reproduces on a clean installation of macOS 14.4 or 14.4.1.

Please share details of reproducing your kernel panic issues, and I would really appreciate it if you could try to reproduce mine.

It's a kernel panic (i.e. not a problem application developers can fix or solve). It's very easy to trigger also (use lots of memory, metal and stress the CPU... independent of a specific app). As a developer I also have no illusion that i can make Apple move faster (or move at all) to solve this issue. Just keep on sending in those crash reports until they perhaps realize there might be an issue.

Have the same issue with Ableton Live (complete reboot hinting the RTK related kernel panic, mentioning a corrupt swap zone) and Logic (just crashing the app) together with Native Instruments Plugins and their new MK3 Keyboards. NI stated that the problem depends on Apple and MacOS: Should be fixed with Update to 14.5

Perhaps after the new Apple Event on May, 7th...

I'm on a M3 Max MacBook Pro, **** of a machine, but this issue bothers me a lot...

You posted your problem on the Apple Support Discussions forums. All we can do from here is talk about it and share what other users know.

Apple Does NOT know about this as an issue and is NOT working on a fix unless you tell them about it formally, by contacting Official Apple Support. Do not relent unless/until:

• they have a specialist contact you

• they file a big report on your behalf, or add you to an existing Bug report.

Try this to fix your MacBook Pro:

Update Software and Drivers: Ensure that your macOS and all related drivers (especially graphics drivers) are up to date.

Increase Available Memory: Check if there are too many applications running at once that might be consuming your system's resources. Closing some might help.

Review your Settings: Sometimes, adjusting the memory settings in Android Studio can prevent these types of errors. Increase the maximum available memory for the studio by adjusting the VM options.

Check System Logs: More detailed logs available in Console.app might give you further insight into what is triggering these panics.

Contact Apple Support: Since this error results in a kernel panic, it might indicate a more serious issue.

Contacting Apple Support or visiting an Apple Store could provide you with the necessary repair or further diagnostics.

It’s important to address these types of errors quickly as they might indicate underlying issues that could cause more significant problems if left unresolved.

Have you tried installing the latest Dell U4924DW firmware from https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-bg/product-support/product/u4924dw-monitor/drivers? I did that, and it solved the problem for me. My M2 Ultra Studio used to crash several times a day, and since updating my U4924DW firmware a week ago I haven't had a single crash. I hope you have the same experience.

If this is a problem localized to one (or even a small handful of) Apps, you need to get the App developer working with you to determine the underlying issue(s), just as leroydouglas has suggested.

Developers have MUCH more incentive to fix this or develop work-arounds. If it turns out to be Apple problem, Developers can apply more pressure than individuals.
