Unable to find reply emails on Mail in my iMac after recent macOS Monterey update.

I have recently updated to Monterey 12.7.2 and have had various mail problems. Some I have sorted but this last one has me stuck. I'm opening my gmail emails in Mail version 16.0 but then find that I don't see some replies from some people and this is getting worse. It started with just one person (that I knew of) and in the last couple of weeks many more. If I go in to the web version of gmail the replies are still not in my inbox but appear if I click on All mail. Help! any ideas?

Thank you, but no these ideas haven't worked and as I've searched and searched the internet no one seems to have an answer.

I've narrowed it down to being a problem with gmail. The problem exists on my Mac using mail and also on the web for gmail. It happens to just a few of my incoming email messages bypassing the inbox and going straight to 'All mail' on gmail on the web, and on my computer they go straight to 'archive'. I can't sort the problem at the moment but I have now put the archive folders near the top of my folder list so at least I can see if there is new mail there that isn't in my inbox!

Thank you for your suggestions. If you do find a way to solve this anyone, I would be grateful
