Transfer music from my ipod classic 4th generation to iMac

II have an old iPod classic full of music. I would like to take that music and put it on my computer, its an iMac using Mojave OS with iTunes Version 12.9.4.94. Im not sure if syncing wipes the iPod clean..I think it does?. All tunes are visible and playable in iTunes, I just don't see a way to take them off. thanks

Syncing will wipe the iPod clean if the music does not exist in iTunes on the iMac.

To extract the music you will need to set the iPod to disc mode, and access it through the Finder. iTunes cannot extract music from a device.

thank you! Well I did that and was sort of successful, but cant see the folder unless I use the Command + Shift + Period (CMD+Shift+.) shortcut., but they are greyed out. However each folder 's contents starting with F00 show the m4a and mp3 files normally, but they have names like AKCR, all are 4 letters, no song names.

I put everything in a folder onto the desktop rather than into the iTunes Media folder. I copied the first F00 folder to the Automatically Add to iTunes/Music folder to see if it worked rather than all 11g. It worked but the some songs are still not named, not sure why but o well

Thanks for your help!
